Over the last years, My Room Abroad has rented rooms and apartments to over 1000 tenants in Taiwan.

When coming to Taipei or Taichung, finding a perfect room without the help of friends or agents can be difficult. However, our housing website is here to help you in this task. 

Over the years, we have found that one of the best ways to find an apartment in Taiwan is to look at the listings rented by previous tenants. They have done the room research before you and they have actually lived in these apartments.

Although all the rooms and listings on our website can easily be filtered according to your criteria, we found it useful to create some explicit lists, showing you the apartments chosen by previous tenants. 

List of Apartments Rented by Previous Students from Universities and Mandarin Training Centers in Taiwan

These are the lists of apartments and rooms which have been rented by previous students from the main Taiwanese universities and Mandarin language centers. We call these lists “Room Books”.

These Room Books allow you to rent the exact same apartments as the previous students. Most of these apartments didn’t host just one alumni, but often 10 or 100. These students did the pre-selection and now these apartments are transferred from generation to generation.

Knowing where the previous students staid is also the best way for you:

  • To get an understanding of the type of apartments they chose. 
  • To get an overview of the areas they chose in Taipei and Taichung.
  • To get an idea of the expected rent prices.

For most of these apartments, My Room Abroad bargained 5 months contracts (instead of 12 months!), which is crucial if you only come for one semester.

Staying in these apartments is the best way for you to end up in apartments with like minded people and often even with people from your school in Taiwan.
